I set up the mortgage payment today.
"Can you tell me why you're late?" The nice mortgage lady asked. It's a common question I get from mortgage ladies, loan payment ladies, and insurance ladies.
Everyone it seems has plans for my money right away.
Of course, if you have ever waited from a refund payment from the mortgage lady or the insurance lady then you know the promptness they expect from you is not something they reciprocate when they owe you money.
"I'm not late," I replied.
"Well, it's due on the first," she said.
"Yeah, but you guys don't charge a late fee until the 17th," I said.
"That's true," she said, falling into my trap.
"I'm setting this up for the 16th," I said snapping the trap shut. "Not only am I not late, I'm 24 hours early."
"Ummm," she replied.
Exactly, I thought, you've just been blinded by ice ... cold ... logic. Have a nice day mortgage lady.
